Microsoft Windows 95
   A 32-bit, multitasking, multithreaded desktop operating system capable of running MS-DOS, Windows 3.1, and Windows 95 applications. It supports Plug and Play (on the appropriate hardware) and adds an enhanced FAT file system in the Virtual FAT, which allows filenames of up to 255 characters while also supporting the MS-DOS 8.3 filenaming conventions.
   Applets include WordPad (a word processor), Paint, and WinPad (a personal information manager), as well as system tools such as Backup, ScanDisk, Disk Defragmenter, and DriveSpace. The Start button and desktop Taskbar make application management easy and straightforward. Windows 95 supports TCP/IP, IPX/SPX, NetBEUI, NDIS, FTP, SLIP, and PPP communications and networking protocols.
